Wayne Wesley Wood, 83, quietly returned home to his Father in Heaven and other beloved family members on the evening of July 17, 2014. Wayne was born February 9, 1931 in Jackson, Wyoming to Charles Wesley and Erma Larson Wood. He was raised in Driggs, Idaho, (this often caused an on-going debate between he and his wife Carol regarding which side of the Tetons are the most beautiful). He deeply loved his family and friends and enjoyed life in the shadow of the Tetons no matter which side he was on. Wayne married the love of his life Carol Robertson, in the Idaho Falls Temple on June 12, 1951 and recently celebrated 63 years of marriage. Four daughters were born, Sandra Lee Hughes of Knoxville, Tennessee; Linda Wood Scott of Jackson, Wyoming, Sally Ann Wood (deceased) and Judith Kay Wood (deceased). After graduating from Teton Valley High School Wayne served in the Idaho National Guard. He also worked in various jobs for the State of Idaho. When he and Carol settled in Jackson he worked for the Wyoming State Highway department for almost 40 years. Wayne loved the outdoors, with camping and snowmobiling at the top of the list. He was a member of the Snow Devil’s when they were first organized. He also enjoyed going to Idaho in the Fall and working on the Dry Farms with his uncle Lester Nelson and cousin Theron Nelson. He loved traveling as much as he could to see different parts of the country. Wayne had a heart as big as he was, and was a generous and good friend to all he came in contact with. Wayne had a sense of humor and it delighted him to tease anyone whom might cross his path. Wayne is survived by his Wife, Carol; Daughter Sandra Hughes; Daughter and Son-in-law Linda & Robert Scott; Grandchildren, Jason & Heather Scott, Seth Hughes & Andrea Knufken, Amy & Neal Larsen, and Heidi Wood; Great Grandsons, Parker, Isaac, Jesse, Aaron, Brady, James, and Adam; and Brother William Wood and Brother and Sister-in-law Dennis & Cheryl Wood. Also numerous Nieces and Nephews whom he loved very much. Funeral services will be on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Jackson L.D.S. Church. A visitation will precede the funeral from 9:30 - 10:45 prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will be at the Aspen Hill Cemetery in Jackson.
