Verl Kent Bagley, 78, of Victor, Idaho, passed away on January 6, 2025.
Kent was born November 9, 1946, in Driggs, Idaho to Verl P. Bagley and Verna B. Humphreys. He grew up in Victor, Idaho on the family farm.
Kent attended grade school in Victor and high school in Driggs as a Teton Redskin. He participated in wrestling and football.
He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Southern Australia, serving a large part of his mission in Tasmania.
He graduated from Ricks College and Brigham Young University in Business Management. While going to school, he worked for Boise Cascade in Rexburg and then in Provo. When he graduated from BYU, Boise Cascade hired him full time and he was transferred to Layton, Utah.
On August 16, 1968, he married his high school sweetheart, Pauline Butler, in the Idaho Falls Temple. Their first home was in Rexburg, Idaho, then to Provo, Utah, and then to Layton, Utah, where they enjoyed their many friends.
Soon after, they realized their heart was still in Teton Valley. They made plans and moved back to Victor, Idaho where they started purchasing land to start their livelihood as farmer/rancher. With goals and determination, and the blessing of having his sons work with him, they grew the dairy herd, beef herd and an elk herd.
Grazing cattle on the forest allotment, which has been in the family for many years, was one of his favorite things to do. While herding the cattle, he got the idea of doing trail rides. He thought, if we enjoy riding this much, maybe others would enjoy riding in the forest and seeing the beauty around us, as well. So again, with the help of his sons, the trail riding business began, bringing guests and making friends from around the world.
With that same family help, determination and planning, the gravel pit and trucking business came to life and was added to the business.
Most of Kent’s life has been on the back of a horse, riding, herding cattle, exploring and enjoying the beauty surrounding him. He loved his family and the love of horses continues – making a lot of family reunions enjoyable times in the back country on the horses.
Kent is survived by his wife, Pauline; his daughter, Michelle Bingham and family; his son, Stephen and family; and son, Greg and family, 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and two siblings.
