Patricia "Pat" Swenson Emery was born to Marguerite and Richard Emery on November 23, 1931 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She had a lovely older sister,Coraline (Corky) Ball and a younger brother, Dick Jr.; Both anxiously awaiting her heavenly arrival.
Her family then moved to Seattle, Washington area; her father worked for Parker Paintsat the time. Pat went to the University of Washington and graduated with Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in speech in 1952.
Her family moved to the Tacoma/Lakewood area where many wonderful memories with family and friends were made. She began working for Ma Bell and remained in their employ for 30 years.
Pat Married Don Grover in the Hawaii Temple in 1954. In 1956, she had a baby girl and then 5 years years later Xealyus was born.
We grew up in Lakewood and were surrounded with family, friends and a wonderful church family. Pat loved her family and many friends, and the cousins that were close by, Maryanne and Mikewere favorites.
She made holidays special: Swedish pancakes at grandma'swas a family affair, Sunday drives, movies, plays were favorites and she was a perfect hostess at entertaining! One of her special dishes is a pepperoni spaghetti sauce, which is still being made. Church was so important to her. and she served in many callings throughout her life.
In her late 50's early 60'sPt and Don moved from the city to the country of Victor, Idaho, almost30 years ago. She grew t o love the areaand love so many here. You all became her beloved family. She also became known as Grandma Pat, the treat drawer lady.
On July 31st , 2021 our sweet Mama passed from this world to her Heavenly home. It is what she wanted for so long. And We know her reunion wuth family and friends was most joyous, and that she is doing her happy dance now with her beloved sister, Aunt Corky, her Mama, our Dad and friends; doing all kinds of Raz MaTaz!!
Her legacy is a tribute to her, with 2 daughters, 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren on the way.
A poem that was written by Xealyus:
Mustang Mama in her convertible ride
With red leather tuck-n-roll
Us by her side
Pink foil lipstick, dark bouffant hair
Hot pink bathing suit, tan as a bear
Trips to the ocean , days with no cares
See’s candies were her favorite,
Our Easter Baskets full
Mama made every single holiday
A celebration to behold
Saturday night dancing,
All dolled up in a beautiful gown
Off to the Elks Club,
Where Dad twirled her around.
Light on her feet in stilettos
Mama never missed a beat
6 to 6 at MaBell, still a home spotless and clean
Dinner on the table, how did she do it all.
Cooking, baking, goodie plates and more
Mama sweet Mama what else could we ask for
Now she celebrates with a family she love so dear
Mama dear Mama, we cry happy tears.
For now, she lives in a glorious sphere.
Mama, we know you are here, we can feel you near; we miss you and love you with all our hearts. Have so much fun and 'till we meet again at the Savior's fee, when we can join you, Have Fun!!
