Devoted husband, father, and grandfather Gerald Ray Petersen age 84, passed away peacefully at his home on February 11, 2018 in Driggs, Idaho.
He was born November 26, 1933 in Salt Lake City, UT to Holger Pete Petersen and Ora Irene Hutchinson.
As a youngman he worked as a brick layer and later became a Utah Highway Patrolman. He worked through the ranks in the Utah Highway Patrol and retired as a Lieutenant.
He married his high school sweetheart Shirley Jean Peterson on May 25, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. They moved to Driggs, Idaho in 1994. He was man of many talents, he enjoyed camping with his children. He was a jewelry maker and enjoyed learning new crafts.
He was proceeded in death by his wife Shirley Jean Petersen. He is survived by his children, Brent (Patty) Petersen of Tetonia, Idaho; Scott (Gayle) Petersen of Eagle River, Alaska; Chris Petersen of Tetonia, Idaho; David (Cristie) Petersen of Victor, Idaho; a daughter Sheri (Frank) Dufree of Plano, Texas. He was also blessed with 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday February 23, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Valley Mortuary Driggs in Driggs, Idaho with a visitation for a half hour preceding the service. Followed by an internent at Tetonia Cemetery.
