Ray was born October 5, 1924, at the family home Victor, Idaho, to Daniel Gordon and Bessie Orgill. He attended school in Teton Valley, graduating from Teton High School. He grew up on a farm and loved being a farmer and cattle rancher.
Ray served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy in Guam during World War II and learned to be a skilled electrician. Following his discharge from the service, he returned to run the family farm.
On March 30, 1955, he married Mary Jean "Jeanie" Parmenter in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Ray built them a lovely home, and they raised five children.
Ray was a lifelong faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a great teacher and a very giving man. He blessed the lives of many, family and friends alike. We will miss him.
